CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH A unique worship style paradigmn for church ministry which places emphasis on lay people to carry out worship, Christian education, fellowship and evangelism in its ministry strategy. Often congregational churches are small, single cell churches because of the deemphasis on leadership and the high emphasis on lay-ministry. CONVERSION Participation by non-Christians in a genuine decision for Christ, a sincere turning form the old life and sin, and a determined purpose to live as Christ would have people live. a) Individual Conversion - the evangelization of one person at a time in individual counseling time. b) Multi-Individual - many people participate in the act, each individual makes up his/her mind, debates with others and decides to either accept or reject Christianity. DISCIPLING Bringing people to a personal relatinship with Jesus Christ. A more refined classification follows: D-1 The turning of a non-Christian society for the first time to Christ. D-2 The turning of any individual from non-faith to faith in Christ and his or her incorporation in a church. D-3 The teaching of an existing Christian as much of the truths of the Bible as possible, helping them grow in grace. EVANGELISM, DEFINITI0N Evangelism is communicating the gospel in an understandable manner, and motivating a person to respond to Christ and become a responsible member of his church. EVANGELISM, GIFT OF Evangelism is communicating the Gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit to unconverted persons at their point of need with the intent of effecting conversions. These conversions take place as individuals repent of their sin and put their trust in God through Jesus Christ, to accept Him as their Saviour. Normally, those who are converted determine to serve the Lord in the
fellowship of a local church. Those who are gifted in evangelism are effective in making disciples of various types of people through their personal evangelistic efforts. EVANGELISTIC CHURCH A unique worship style paradigmn for church ministry which views evangelism as its primary reason for being and seeks to accomplish the Great Commission through unique outreach efforts to specific target groups in its community. EXHORTATION, GIFT OF Exhortation is urging others to act on the basis of their faith in God, advising others how to accomplish specific goals in life and/or ministry, cautioning others against actions that are potentially dangerous and motivating others in the Christian life and ministry. Those gifted in exhortation usually develop simple strategies to accomplish goals and effectively encourage and motivate others to remain faithful in their service for God. GIFT ASSIMILATION Many Christians will be saved in a church or will begin attending a church where the dominant spiritual gift in the church is different from the Christian's dominant spiritual gift. Then because of example, influence, teaching and other factors, the Christian begins to assimilate a spiritual gift that was not indigeneous or dominant to him/her. GIFT COLONIZATION Because of information about types of worship styles that is available and the accessability of that church worship style because of improved transportaion, believers tend to gravitate to a worship style that reflects their dominant spiritual gift and the church becomes a colony of like-gifted believers. GIFT GRAVITATION In the American culture that is dominated by information (the Internet) and transportation (the Interstate), people began attending a local church where the dominant spiritual gift that is exercized in the congregation is their dominant spiritual gift. GIVING, GIFT OF Giving is investing financial and other resources in ways that further the purposes of God through individuals and/or ministries. Givers are inclined to be generous in financially underwriting a wide variety of ministry projects.
