Scaling-up chemical reactions is especially important in industries. Once chemical reactions have be<strong>en</strong> optimized in a small<br />

scale, and if the reaction products have prov<strong>en</strong> to be useful, conv<strong>en</strong>i<strong>en</strong>t and effici<strong>en</strong>t production of large amounts becomes an<br />

issue.<br />

Anton Paar ´s Workshop shows an Easy-going from mg to kg amounts assisted by microwaves. (Monowave 300 to<br />

Masterwave BTR)<br />

Wh<strong>en</strong> switching from small scale (monomo<strong>de</strong> reactor) to a larger scale (multimo<strong>de</strong> reactor) it is usually necessary to<br />

reoptimize the reaction conditions in or<strong>de</strong>r to obtain similar yields and product quality. This is because of the differ<strong>en</strong>t<br />

concepts of individual instrum<strong>en</strong>ts (single vessel batch synthesis vs. parallel synthesis or continuous flow reactors).<br />

Still being a b<strong>en</strong>ch top reactor, Masterwave BTR combines the conv<strong>en</strong>i<strong>en</strong>ce of a monomo<strong>de</strong> reactor and the effici<strong>en</strong>t<br />

performance in larger scale which is necessary for direct scale-up. Therefore, reoptimization of already established small-scale<br />

methods is not required any more.<br />

El escalami<strong>en</strong>to <strong>de</strong> las reacciones químicas es especialm<strong>en</strong>te importante <strong>en</strong> las industrias. Una vez que las reacciones químicas<br />

se han optimizado <strong>en</strong> pequeña escala, y si los productos <strong>de</strong> reacción han <strong>de</strong>mostrado ser activos o útiles, la producción,<br />

conv<strong>en</strong>i<strong>en</strong>te y efici<strong>en</strong>te <strong>de</strong> gran<strong>de</strong>s cantida<strong>de</strong>s se convierte <strong>en</strong> un problema.<br />

El Taller <strong>de</strong> Anton Paar nos mostrará una manera fácil <strong>de</strong> pasar <strong>de</strong> mg a cantida<strong>de</strong>s <strong>de</strong> kg <strong>en</strong> reactores asistidos por<br />

microondas.<br />

Cuando se cambia <strong>de</strong> pequeña escala (reactor monomodal) a una escala mayor (reactor multimodal) por lo g<strong>en</strong>eral es necesario<br />

volver a optimizar las condiciones <strong>de</strong> reacción con el fin <strong>de</strong> obt<strong>en</strong>er r<strong>en</strong>dimi<strong>en</strong>tos similares y la calidad <strong>de</strong>l producto. Esto se<br />

<strong>de</strong>be a los difer<strong>en</strong>tes conceptos con los que trabajan cada instrum<strong>en</strong>to individual (Síntesis <strong>en</strong> un solo recipi<strong>en</strong>te contra la<br />

Síntesis paralela o <strong>en</strong> reactores <strong>de</strong> flujo continuo).<br />

Aún si<strong>en</strong>do un reactor <strong>de</strong> banco, el Masterwave BTR combina la comodidad <strong>de</strong> un reactor monomodal y el <strong>de</strong>sempeño<br />

efici<strong>en</strong>te <strong>en</strong> mayor escala que es necesaria para dirigir el escalami<strong>en</strong>to. Por lo tanto, la reoptimización ya establecida a pequeña<br />

escala <strong>de</strong> los métodos no se requiere más.
