Once chemical reactions have been optimized in a small scale, and if the reaction products have proven to be useful, convenient and efficient production of large amounts becomes an issue. Anton Paar ´s Workshop shows an Easy-going from mg to kg amounts assisted by microwaves. (Monowave 300 to Masterwave BTR) When switching from small scale (monomode reactor) to a larger scale (multimode reactor) it is usually necessary to reoptimize the reaction conditions in order to obtain similar yields and product quality. This is because of the different concepts of individual instruments (single vessel batch synthesis vs. parallel synthesis or continuous flow reactors). Still being a bench top reactor, Masterwave BTR combines the convenience of a monomode reactor and the efficient performance in larger scale which is necessary for direct scale-up. Therefore, reoptimization of already established small-scale methods is not required any more. Una vez que las reacciones químicas se han optimizado en pequeña escala, y si los productos de reacción han demostrado ser activos o útiles, la producción, conveniente y eficiente de grandes cantidades se convierte en un problema. El Taller de Anton Paar nos mostrará una manera fácil de pasar de mg a cantidades de kg en reactores asistidos por microondas. Cuando se cambia de pequeña escala (reactor monomodal) a una escala mayor (reactor multimodal) por lo general es necesario volver a optimizar las condiciones de reacción con el fin de obtener rendimientos similares y la calidad del producto. Esto se debe a los diferentes conceptos con los que trabajan cada instrumento individual (Síntesis en un solo recipiente contra la Síntesis paralela o en reactores de flujo continuo). Aún siendo un reactor de banco, el Masterwave BTR combina la comodidad de un reactor monomodal y el desempeño eficiente en mayor escala que es necesaria para dirigir el escalamiento. Por lo tanto, la reoptimización ya establecida a pequeña escala de los métodos no se requiere más.

This first half of thsi session will provide a demonstration and discussion of the content of the new ACS Publications video series Publishing Your Research 101. It is designed to assist authors and reviewers in understanding and improving their experience with the processes of writing, submitting, editing, and reviewing manuscripts. The second half of the session will present information on the trends and ‘best practices’ of working with chemistry colleagues across borders - in virtual and physical settings – to conduct joint research and establish exchanges between laboratories.
