A mulher na Pré-história da Serra da Capivara

Nesta apresentação mostraremos os primeiros resultados de uma pesquisa imagética no corpus gráfi co
da região da Serra da Capivara sobre a representação da mulher – a figura feminina. O projeto ampliase
para estudos interdisciplinares com outras áreas de pesquisa do conhecimento científico, incluindo
a antropologia física, na busca do conhecimento de uma identidade feminina pré-histórica.
Sexuality in Rock Painting of Serido /RN – Brazil

How is the sex represented in the ancient rock as those lived in northeast Brazil? Is it possible to correlate
the same meanngs associates with sexual representations in prehistoric rock paintings to those of our
culture today? This paper is based on the results of my dissertation, “Sexualidade nas pinturas rupestres do
Seridó/RN – Brasil”. We also developed a hypothesis for the correspondence of design forms, considering
the designs as signs created under a valuable viewpoint spcifically associated with the archaeological
context. It is an idea that takes the image of women with a weight similar to that of man, considering
the size of the figures and the few representations that indicate biological sex as a structure of meaning
different from contemporarywestern culture. This work was based on the representation of 10 men and
7 women painted in six archaeological sites in the state of Rio Grande do Norte , Brasil.
