• Scholastic AchievementAny student who earns a failing grade in a one full credit course or two half credit courseswill become ineligible to participate in co-curricular activities <strong>and</strong> inter-scholastic athleticprograms <strong>for</strong> a period <strong>of</strong> one (1) week. Eligibility shall be cumulative from the beginning <strong>of</strong>a semester <strong>and</strong> shall be graded on a weekly basis. In cases where a student's cumulativework from the beginning <strong>of</strong> the semester does not, as <strong>of</strong> each Friday, meet the st<strong>and</strong>ard,he/she shall be ineligible to participate. The student will become eligible after one week<strong>of</strong> suspension from the activity (Sunday through Saturday) upon the verification <strong>of</strong> apassing grade. The student will remain ineligible <strong>for</strong> an additional week if the grades havenot improved to passing. The eligibility process will commence with the second Friday ineach semester.If ineligible, students may not participate in practices, per<strong>for</strong>mances, field trips, <strong>and</strong>/orany other activities associated with a co-curricular activity or interscholastic athleticprogram. However, students scheduled <strong>for</strong> courses that are associated with certain cocurricularactivity programs (e.g., b<strong>and</strong>, chorus, yearbook) must continue to participate inclassroom activities during the period <strong>of</strong> time they are ineligible.<strong>Student</strong>s who become ineligible are encouraged to seek help from the guidancedepartment <strong>and</strong> the teacher(s) <strong>of</strong> the course(s) he/she is failing.End-<strong>of</strong>-year grades from the previous term will be used to determine eligibility <strong>for</strong> allstudents at the beginning <strong>of</strong> a school year. If a student is ineligible at the end <strong>of</strong> theprevious school year, he/she shall be ineligible <strong>for</strong> the first fifteen school days <strong>of</strong> the newschool year. Successful completion <strong>of</strong> work in an approved summer school program may beused to regain academic eligibility <strong>for</strong> the following school year.• <strong>School</strong> Attendance<strong>Student</strong>s who wish to participate in co-curricular activities <strong>and</strong> interscholastic athleticprograms must maintain a record <strong>of</strong> regular school attendance as determined by theprincipal. Any student who does not meet the intent <strong>of</strong> this st<strong>and</strong>ard may be declaredineligible <strong>for</strong> participation. A student who is absent from school may not participate in anyco-curricular activity or interscholastic athletic programs on the day <strong>of</strong> the absence.An athlete may not participate in a practice or game on any day in which he/she hasattended less than a half-day <strong>of</strong> school, or has been sent home from school due to illness.One-half day means that a student must report to school no later than 11:23 a.m.Emergency exceptions may be approved by the principal.• <strong>Conduct</strong><strong>Student</strong>s who wish to participate in co-curricular activities <strong>and</strong>/or interscholastic athleticprograms must conduct themselves in a manner, which favorably represents their activity,school, <strong>and</strong> community at all times. Any student who violates school rules or displaysinappropriate behavior may be declared ineligible <strong>for</strong> participation. <strong>Student</strong>s may notparticipate in any co-curricular activity or interscholastic athletic programs while on12
