The first <strong>of</strong>fense shall carry after school detention. Prosecution as a summary <strong>of</strong>fensemay also be initiated whereby the student may be sentenced to pay a fine <strong>of</strong> $50.00plus court costs or be assigned to an adjudication alternative.For subsequent <strong>of</strong>fenses, the student may be suspended from school <strong>for</strong> a three-dayperiod <strong>and</strong> a parent conference will be necessary be<strong>for</strong>e the student may bereadmitted.STUDENT DISCIPLINE – Policy #218It is the policy <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Lebanon</strong> <strong>School</strong> District that a district-wide climate <strong>for</strong>learning, free from disruption <strong>and</strong> safe from violence shall be established so as toassure that teaching <strong>and</strong> learning can go on in a constructive environment. <strong>Conduct</strong> byany student which interferes with the rights <strong>of</strong> others to learn in peace will not betolerated.WEAPONS/ DANGEROUS ITEMS – Policy #233Weapons, replicas <strong>of</strong> weapons, <strong>and</strong> other dangerous instruments are <strong>for</strong>bidden inschool buildings <strong>and</strong> school buses <strong>and</strong> on school property owned by, leased by or undercontrol <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Lebanon</strong> <strong>School</strong> District. In addition, all such items are <strong>for</strong>bidden at anyschool sponsored/related function, regardless <strong>of</strong> location.Weapons shall include any loaded or unloaded firearm (including pellet guns, BB guns,<strong>and</strong> look-alike firearms), any kind <strong>of</strong> explosive device, any kind <strong>of</strong> knife, or any othertool, instrument, or substance fashioned with the intent to use, sell, harm, threaten, orharass students, staff members, parents, or any other visitor, guest or patron <strong>of</strong> theschool.Any student found in possession <strong>of</strong> a weapon, regardless <strong>of</strong> intent, shall be reported tohis/her parent(s) <strong>and</strong> the police. The student shall be placed on an out <strong>of</strong> schoolsuspension <strong>and</strong> presented to the Board <strong>for</strong> a <strong>for</strong>mal hearing in accord with theprovisions <strong>of</strong> Policy 233.In general, a student found in possession <strong>of</strong> a weapon, look-alike, or replica will beexpelled from school <strong>for</strong> a period <strong>of</strong> not less than one year. The Board may, however,modify the expulsion period on a case-by-case basis, at the recommendation <strong>of</strong> thesuperintendent.USE OF BICYCLES AND MOTOR VEHICLES – Policy #223The Board regards the use <strong>of</strong> bicycles <strong>and</strong> motor vehicles <strong>for</strong> travel to <strong>and</strong> from schoolby students as an assumption <strong>of</strong> responsibility by parents <strong>and</strong> students.33
