S. STUDENT NEWSPAPERThe school newspaper shall con<strong>for</strong>m to the following:1. <strong>Student</strong>s have a right to report the news <strong>and</strong> to editorialize within the guidelines.2. <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficials shall supervise student newspapers published with school equipment,remove obscene or libelous material, <strong>and</strong> edit other material that may disrupt orinterfere with school activities.3. Prior approval procedures regarding copy <strong>for</strong> school newspapers shall identify theindividual to whom the material is to be submitted <strong>and</strong> shall establish a limitation on thetime required to make a decision. If the time <strong>for</strong> approval lapses without a decision, thematerial shall be considered authorized <strong>for</strong> distribution.4. <strong>Student</strong>s who are not members <strong>of</strong> the newspaper staff shall have access to its pages.Written criteria <strong>for</strong> submission <strong>of</strong> material by non-staff members shall be developed <strong>and</strong>distributed to all students.T. USE OF TELEPHONEThe <strong>of</strong>fice telephone is a business phone. <strong>Student</strong>s may use the telephone <strong>for</strong> school business orpersonal emergencies only. Calls should be made be<strong>for</strong>e or after school. All calls have a 3-minutetime limit.U. VENDING MACHINESVending machines are available in the cafeteria <strong>for</strong> the purpose <strong>of</strong> providing LHS students withfood, juice, <strong>and</strong> soda. The following recommendations have been established:1. Soda machines will be in use be<strong>for</strong>e <strong>and</strong> after school only.2. No soda or juice is permitted outside the cafeteria (exception: when leaving school at theend <strong>of</strong> the day).3. <strong>Student</strong>s who hit, kick, or rock the machines are subject to disciplinary actions.V. VISITORSAll visitors to <strong>Lebanon</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> should use the entrance between the library <strong>and</strong> gymbuildings or between the library <strong>and</strong> auditorium buildings. Visitors must sign in with security uponentering the building. A visitor pass is necessary <strong>and</strong> must be displayed. Violators will be treatedas trespassers <strong>and</strong> prosecuted to the fullest extent <strong>of</strong> the law (Act <strong>of</strong> June 24, 1939, P.L. 872,Sec. 954; amended by Act 131, September 1, 1967, Sec. 1).Parent conferences - Parents are encouraged to make appointments with teachers, counselors,or administrators by contacting the school <strong>of</strong>fice at 273-9391.W. WORK PERMITS<strong>Student</strong>s between the ages <strong>of</strong> 14-18 can apply <strong>for</strong> a work permit in the high school <strong>of</strong>fice. Statelaw requires the following steps when applying <strong>for</strong> a work permit:24
