DISCIPLINARY STRUCTURE: STUDENT MISCONDUCT <strong>and</strong> RESPONSELevel Examples <strong>of</strong> Behavior Procedures Possible Disciplinary ResponsesLEVEL ILevel I misconduct involvesbehavior on the part <strong>of</strong> thestudent that impedes orderlyclassroom procedures orinterferes with the orderlyoperation <strong>of</strong> the school.Individual staff members canusually correct thesemisbehaviors as they occur.However, sometimes thesupport <strong>of</strong> other schoolpersonnel is required.LEVEL IILevel II misconduct involvesbehavior that is frequent orserious enough to disrupt thelearning climate <strong>of</strong> the school.These infractions, which usuallyresult from the continuation <strong>of</strong>Level I behaviors, require theintervention <strong>of</strong> an administrator.Misbehaviors that do notrepresent a direct threat to thehealth <strong>and</strong> safety <strong>of</strong> others, yetthey do disrupt the educationalclimate are considered Level II.Level IIILevel III misconduct involvesacts directed against persons orproperty. Behavior support plan isrequired at this level.Administrator may initiate a threat <strong>and</strong>risk assessment.Restitution <strong>of</strong> property <strong>and</strong> damage isrequired when applicable.The administrator needs to maintain anaccurate record <strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>fense <strong>and</strong>disciplinary action.The administrator verifies the <strong>of</strong>fense,confers with the staff involved <strong>and</strong> meetswith student <strong>and</strong> parent.
