All lower body attire must be hemmed <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> an appropriate weight material.Elementary <strong>School</strong> <strong>Student</strong>s – follow the same guidelines as the secondarystudents, however the following are permitted:• Fitted jeans that meet all other requirements.• Pink is permitted <strong>for</strong> bottoms.• Simple accent designs on bottoms, such as a flower, orbutterfly, are permitted at the primary level.3. Dresses – Girls are permitted to wear modest dresses that cover the neckline, orif they have buttons, are buttoned up to the first or second button. Length <strong>of</strong>dresses cannot be shorter than 2” above the knee.4. Footwear – Dress shoes, sneakers, clogs or crocs are permitted, however,practical, sensible shoes are recommended (with straps at the elementarylevel). Beachwear/flip-flops/slippers, heelies <strong>and</strong> stash shoes are notpermitted.5. Other: Jackets, coats <strong>and</strong> other outerwear; headwear <strong>of</strong> any type, (withthe exception <strong>of</strong> barrettes; or accessorized headb<strong>and</strong>s; or religious wear)including but not limited to hats, b<strong>and</strong>annas, sweatb<strong>and</strong>s, hoods, <strong>and</strong> kerchiefs;<strong>and</strong> sunglasses shall not be worn in school.6. Nothing which promotes drugs, alcohol, violence, gangs, racism, immoral ideas,pr<strong>of</strong>ane or inappropriate language may be worn at any time.7. The superintendent or designee has the authority to make revisions in thedress code that support the spirit <strong>of</strong> the policy. Any such revisions will beshared with the board, staff, <strong>and</strong> parents.DRUGS/ALCOHOL/SUBSTANCE AWARENESS & ABUSE – Policy #227The possession, sale, or use <strong>of</strong> tobacco, alcohol, or any non-prescribed drug by astudent on or near the school campus, or coming to or going home from school isstrictly <strong>for</strong>bidden. <strong>Lebanon</strong> <strong>School</strong> District follows a zero tolerance policy. In additionto disciplinary action from the school, prosecution may also be initiated whereby thestudent may be sentenced to pay a fine plus court costs or be assigned to anadjudication alternative. This also applies to “look-a-like” drugs.GANG ACTIVITY – Policy #218.1The <strong>School</strong> Board strongly believes that a safe <strong>and</strong> orderly environment is essential <strong>for</strong>effective teaching <strong>and</strong> learning to occur within the school setting.<strong>Conduct</strong> prohibited by this policy includes:1. Wearing, possessing, using, distributing, displaying, or selling any clothing, jewelry,emblems, badges, symbols, signs or other items which may be evidence <strong>of</strong>membership or affiliation in any gang;31
