Las <strong>personas</strong> <strong>obesas</strong> han quedado caracterizadas a través <strong>de</strong> un conjunto<strong>de</strong> estereotipos y argum<strong>en</strong>tos negativos, que <strong>en</strong>cu<strong>en</strong>tran apoyo <strong>en</strong> <strong>la</strong> legitimidad social <strong>de</strong>los discursos médicos y <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> moda. Po<strong>de</strong>mos hab<strong>la</strong>r con total propiedad <strong>de</strong> un estigmasocial <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> obesidad, y focalizar nuestra at<strong>en</strong>ción sobre él como f<strong>en</strong>óm<strong>en</strong>o social <strong>de</strong>discriminación. Mediante el análisis <strong>de</strong> algunos elem<strong>en</strong>tos <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> sintaxis <strong>de</strong> un conjunto <strong>de</strong>opiniones remitidas al foro público <strong>de</strong> una noticia <strong>de</strong> pr<strong>en</strong>sa digital, reflexionamos sobre <strong>la</strong>imag<strong>en</strong> resultante <strong>de</strong> <strong><strong>la</strong>s</strong> <strong>personas</strong> <strong>obesas</strong> <strong>en</strong> términos <strong>de</strong> posicionami<strong>en</strong>to. El valor re<strong>la</strong>tivo<strong>de</strong> los términos con que los i<strong>de</strong>ntificamos, el tratami<strong>en</strong>to impersonal, el reducido número<strong>de</strong> acciones relevantes con <strong><strong>la</strong>s</strong> cuales quedan vincu<strong>la</strong>dos, y el s<strong>en</strong>tido inespecífico <strong>de</strong> <strong><strong>la</strong>s</strong>acciones, son <strong><strong>la</strong>s</strong> principales cuestiones objeto <strong>de</strong> reflexión final que compon<strong>en</strong> unargum<strong>en</strong>tario crítico totalitario que obliga a mant<strong>en</strong>er el <strong>de</strong>bate <strong>de</strong>ntro <strong>de</strong> los términosestigmatizadores con que es p<strong>la</strong>nteado <strong>de</strong>ntro <strong>de</strong>l discurso dominante.Pa<strong>la</strong>bras c<strong>la</strong>ve: Personas <strong>obesas</strong>. Obese people havebe<strong>en</strong> characterized by a diversity of negative stereotypes and argum<strong>en</strong>ts based on the sociallegitimacy of medical and fashion discourses. Obesity can also be consi<strong>de</strong>red from a socialstigma perspective, and focus on this stigma as a case for social discrimination. Analyzingsome syntactic elem<strong>en</strong>ts in a sample of opinions posted in the public forum of a digitalnewspaper, this paper discusses how this image of obese people positions them socially.The re<strong>la</strong>tive value of the terms we use to i<strong>de</strong>ntify them, impersonal treatm<strong>en</strong>t, the smallnumber of relevant actions re<strong>la</strong>ted to them, and the vague direction of such actions, are themain questions in our final discussion. They contribute to creating a totalitarian criticalposition that inevitably forces the <strong>de</strong>bate to remain within the stigmatizing terms of thedominant antiobesity discourse.Keywords: Obese people.
