Un total de 256 organizaciones han implementado proyectos con el apoyo<br />
financiero y técnico de FIAES, en 141 municipios y 14 departamentos del<br />
país, beneficiando a 1,286,205 personas en el área rural.<br />
With FIAES support, a total of 256 organizations have implemented<br />
projects in 141 municipalities in all the 14 departments of the country, and<br />
benefiting 1,286,205, in rural areas.<br />
Apoyo a las áreas naturales protegidas<br />
Support to the reserves, or protected areas<br />
Desde sus inicios FIAES ha invertido importantes recursos financieros<br />
en la protección y conservación de áreas naturales, siendo éste uno de<br />
sus principales compromisos en materia ambiental.<br />
Since its establishment, FIAES has invested important financial resources<br />
to the protection and conservation of natural reserves, this being one of its<br />
principal commitments in the environmental arena.<br />
Su aporte a la consolidación del Sistema Nacional de Áreas <strong>Naturales</strong><br />
Protegidas (SANP), se ha llevado a cabo por medio del financiamiento<br />
de proyectos en 51 áreas naturales, que abarcan una superficie de<br />
24,220 hectáreas.<br />
Its support to the strengthening of the Natural Protected Areas System<br />
(SNAP), has been developed through financing 51 projects in different<br />
reserves as protected areas, covering 24,220 hectares.<br />
Las actividades desarrolladas en el marco de los proyectos son diversas,<br />
entre las cuales destacan: elaboración de planes de manejo, infraestructura<br />
de atención a visitantes, conformación de comités ambientales, investigación<br />
científica; así como financiamiento, capacitación y equipamiento<br />
de guardarrecursos. También se ha promovido el uso de tecnología<br />
ecoeficiente, en las comunidades de las zonas de amortiguamiento o<br />
circunvecinas, para el uso racional y sostenible de los recursos naturales.<br />
The activities developed in the framework of the projects are very<br />
diverse, such as drafting protected areas management plans, tourism<br />
infrastructure, establishment of local environmental comities, scientific<br />
research, as well as financing, equipping and training park rangers. Also,<br />
the use of eco-efficient technology has been promoted in the communities<br />
located in the buffer zones and areas of influence of protected areas.<br />
Uno de los mayores aportes de FIAES, en este tema, ha sido el apoyo<br />
a la estrategia de comanejo que implementa el Ministerio de Medio<br />
Ambiente y Recursos <strong>Naturales</strong>, la cual incorpora a comunidades,<br />
organizaciones no gubernamentales y asociaciones de desarrollo<br />
comunal en la gestión de áreas naturales. De esta forma se fomenta la<br />
corresponsabilidad y la participación en el cuido del patrimonio natural.<br />
One of the main ways FIAES has been able to support protected areas is through<br />
its support to the co-management strategy implemented by the Ministry<br />
of Environment and Natural Resources, by which the local communities<br />
and non-governmental organizations are invited to participate in the<br />
management of the natural reserves. This way, there is a shared responsibility<br />
in the difficult task of protecting the Natural Heritage of El Salvador.<br />
En la actualidad, estos espacios naturales están siendo manejados<br />
con un enfoque ecosistémico, una estrategia de manejo de recursos<br />
naturales que pone al ser humano y sus necesidades como parte<br />
esencial del ecosistema.<br />
Currently, the protected areas are managed with an ecosystematic<br />
approach, where the management of the natural resources considers<br />
humans and their needs as an essential part of the ecosystem.<br />
Como entidad comprometida con el medio ambiente y el desarrollo<br />
sostenible, FIAES se complace en haber colaborado junto a Banco<br />
Agrícola en la producción de este valioso libro, que incluye una selección<br />
representativa de áreas naturales y de los ecosistemas de nuestro<br />
hermoso país. Esperamos que esto contribuya a un mayor conocimiento<br />
de los impresionantes sitios que son parte de nuestro patrimonio natural.<br />
As an entity committed to the environment and sustainable development,<br />
