Parmigiani Fleurier in the air
On January 24, 2009, Parmigiani Fleurier
(the principal partner for the event), and the
organising committee, launched the 31st
International Hot Air Balloon festival at
Château-d’Oex.
For many years, air sports have represented an important vector of the brand’s
worldwide image. In the United States, Asia or Europe, the Parmigiani hot air
balloon has already shone in many international events, always providing the
opportunity for special encounters. With it particular attachment to the Pays
d’Enhaut region, Parmigiani Fleurier has for five years supported the splendid
Château-d’Oex International Hot Air Balloon Festival. Launched in 2005, the
collaboration soon developed, starting in 2006, into complete commitment by
the Haute Horlogerie brand, which became the “presenting sponsor” of the
event. Every winter season is now an opportunity for Parmigiani to invite its
worldwide clientele and many foreign journalists to come and discover the
beauties of the Château-d’Oex region and enjoy the unforgettable experience
of a balloon flight in the colours of the watchmaking brand. Coming from varied
and often very distant horizons, every guest is eager to discover the pleasures
of flying above the snowy summits, but also the diverse specialities of the
region. In this year’s line-up, 80 hot air balloons and 10 specially shaped crafts
from 20 different countries shared the sky over Château-d’Oex. Throughout the
week, a host of activities drew a huge audience: a Parmigiani fox hunt (the
Parmigiani hot air balloon, known as the Fox, sets off from the take-off area
before the other balloons, and the pilots taking), a Parmigiani high-precision
target competition (The pilots must be able to grab a small box placed on the
top of a pole erected in the take-off area. The winner wins a Parmigiani watch),
the Parmigiani ground target competition (the Parmigiani ground target is located
near the Château-d’Oex take-off area. This target is demarcated by four
panels, with the hunt open all nine days. The aim is to drop a marker within this
target ) and various air shows featuring paragliders, parachutes, hang gliders
and Wingsuits and the famous Night Glow lit up the 9 days of the festival. An
unforgettable event for Parmigiani's many guests, from India, Korea, Japan,
Latin America and Europe…
