paedophiles who prey on them to raise their social status: a poor man seen with an ashna is<br />
considered to have increased in social level.<br />
There is a local saying that birds fly over Kandahar using only one wing, the other covering<br />
their posterior. Now the population claims “Birds flew with both wings under the Taleban…but not<br />

Thursday, January 11 The Jerusalem Friends of the Hebrew University will hold a seminar on<br />
Magic Mystery and Witchcraft at the Inbal Hotel, Jerusalem, commencing at 9 a.m. Among<br />
subjects to be discussed are: The Righteous, the Healers and the Sorcerers in Netivot; Magic<br />
in the Jewish Tradition and Halacha; and Witchcraft and Politics in Israeli Society. The latter,<br />
which is the concluding session, will be moderated by Israel Television's Nitzan Chen with the<br />
participation of Prof. Moshe Idel and Prof. Rachel Elior of the HU's Department of Jewish<br />
Thought; Rabbi Isaac Bazri of the Hashalom Kabbalists Yeshiva, Jerusalem, Rabbi Arieh Deri,<br />
the former Shas leader and former Minister of the Interior and Israel Segal, author and<br />
journalist.<br />

Abe says World War II leaders tried by allies cannot be considered war<br />

TOKYO — Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in the Diet on Friday that Japanese World<br />
War II leaders tried and convicted by the U.S. and its allies cannot be considered war<br />
criminals.<br />
Referring to the 14 Japanese convicted as Class-A war criminals by the tribunal's justices<br />
from 11 nations and who are now enshrined at Tokyo's Yasukuni Shrine, Abe said they had<br />
stood trial for crimes against peace and humanity "but it was a concept established at that<br />
