UNE PREMIÈREPOUR VOUS ?Oui, je n’avais jamais tourné avec Javier et j’enrêvais. Il a énormément de talent. Pareil pour SeanPenn. Avec lui, cela faisait des années que nouscherchions à collaborer sur un projet sans jamaisen trouver un seul qui nous séduise. D’ailleurs, àl’origine, « The Last Face », c’était le projet de Javier.Il en avait parlé avec Sean lorsqu’ils tournaient« Gunman » et ils ont initié la chose tous les deux.Je dois reconnaître que ce film est ensuite venu àmoi de manière un peu détournée. « The Last Face »est vraiment un film singulier et unique qui nouspropulse dans une sorte de guerre interne entre soiet son cœur. Ce que je trouve génial, c’est que Seanse soit débrouillé pour donner l’impression que sonfilm dispose d’un budget d’un million de dollarsalors que ce n’est pas du tout le cas !QUEL RÉALISATEUR EST-IL ?Quand il commence à travailler, il part très vite et j’ail’impression de passer mon temps à essayer de lerattraper. Par ailleurs, j’ai trouvé très « chouette »d’être sur un plateau où tout le monde a un telniveau d’implication.QUELLE EST VOTRE DÉFINITION DU LUXE ?Le luxe, pour moi, ne se rattache pas inévitablementà un aspect bassement matériel : des bijoux, unebelle voiture, un dressing débordant de robes degrands couturiers. Je fais ce qu’il me plaît, quand ilme plaît, voilà mon luxe ultime.50Je travaille avec Diordepuis 2005 et je vis,depuis le début de notrecollaboration, une aventureextrêmement créative.work together on a project for years withoutfinding a single one that appealed. In fact, to startwith The Last Face was Javier’s project. Hementioned it to Sean when they were shootingThe Gunman and they both set it in motion. I haveto say that I got involved in the film in quite aroundabout way. The Last Face is a really strangeand unique film which projects you into a sort ofinternal war between yourself and your heart.What I find amazing is that Sean has managed togive the impression that his film was made with aone million dollar budget which is far from beingthe case!WHAT SORT OF A DIRECTOR IS HE?When he starts working he gets into it veryquickly and I have the impression that I’mspending my time trying to catch up. I also find itreally neat to be on a film set where everyone isso committed.WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF LUXURY?For me, luxury does not necessarily have a purelymaterial character: jewellery, a luxury car, a closetoverflowing with couture dresses. I do what Iwant, when I want. That’s my definition of luxury.
