Sachez toutefois que la Maison des Arts de Créteil
(MAC) inaugure le 9 janvier 2016 Tropique du
Grand Nord, une exposition centrée sur deux
photographes autodidactes dévoilant des vues
lumineuses prises au pays des banquises. La
première, la russe Elena Chernyshova, rend
compte, dans sa série Jour de nuit – Nuit de jour,
de la vie quotidienne des habitants de Norilsk,
ville minière située à 400 km au nord du cercle
polaire, en Sibérie. Formidable étude sur
l’adaptation de l’être humain aux conditions
extrêmes. Le second, Sébastien Tixier, a entrepris
un séjour au Groenland à la rencontre de ses
habitants, de ses paysages et de ses mutations
économiques et climatiques. Un travail proche du
documentaire où la culture inuit tend à disparaître
au profit d’une civilisation de plus en plus
occidentalisée. Cette passion pour le paysage
urbain est également au menu culturel du
Domaine de Chamarande dans l’Essonne.
L’exposition Paysages urbains, rêve et réalité traite
à la fois des problèmes liés à l’habitat, à des
interrogations sur l’urbanisation d’aujourd’hui et
de demain dans un pays européen comme la
France. Les travaux photographiques de Claire
Chevrier, Philippe Chancel ou encore Georges
Dupin soulignent que, sans utopie et préservation
de l’environnement, l’urbanisme est un poids mort.

captured all the attention since 23 October is none
other than Seven Corridors by François Morellet. His
new in situ intervention allows visitors to feel the
notion of space by activating the work (a labyrinthine
structure with 20 metre long sides) themselves
through their own movement. This is a mischievous
wink of the eye from a 90 year-old artist, who is
internationally renowned for his studies that oscillate
between geometric abstraction and derision.
Polar photos and urbanism
When it comes to photography, the capital is spoilt
for choice, with Paris-Photo, the Salon de la Photo,
the Mois de la Photo, Photoquai, etc. But you should
know that the Maison des Arts in Créteil (MAC)
inaugurates on 9 January 2016 its Tropique du
Grand Nord exhibition, which is centred on luminous
vistas taken on the ice floes by two self-taught
photographers. The first, the Russian Elena
Chernyshova, reports, in her series Jour de Nuit –
Nuit de Jour, on the daily life of the residents of
Norilsk, a mining town located 400 km north of the
polar circle, in Siberia. This is a wonderful study of
how human beings adapt to extreme conditions.
The second, Sébastien Tixier, spent time in
Greenland learning about its inhabitants, landscapes
and economic and climatic changes. The work
resembles a documentary showing the gradual
disappearance of Inuit culture in favour of an
increasingly Westernised civilisation. This passion
for urban landscapes also features on the cultural
programme of the Domaine de Chamarande in the
Essonne department. The Paysages Urbains, Rêve
et Réalite exhibition is concerned with both housing
issues and questions on present day and future
urbanisation in a European country such as France.
Photographic works by Claire Chevrier, Philippe
Chancel and Georges Dupin underline the fact that,
without utopian ideals or environmental
conservation, urbanism is a dead weight.
