ABSTRACT
How can fashionable clothing contribute to abating a hemiplegic person’s discomfort
toward their physical condition? It is a matter of a dual concern: firstly, that of
ergonomics since a hemiplegic person tends to present atrophy development on their
body affected side, which is usually paralyzed and acts as a postural deformities
developer on the healthy side. Secondly, that related to the fashion question as long
as it is about clothing that not only shelters them but also makes the identification
with other people around them possible. Consequently, it is also about making them
feel that they belong. However, because there is a lack of studies that unify and
reinforce adaptable clothing for this population’s niche, wearers have great difficulty
when shopping for clothes that fit them properly. That is why having thorough studies
about the hemiplegic person’s body parts is vital. This study arose from those worries
and it was based on researches that have already been carried out about a
hemiplegic person’s postural characteristics. Based on these researches and after
having the specific physical conditions established, I will then move on to presenting
ergonomically adapted prototypes.
