The Franciscan Sister<br />

Sister Thereza was born on January 25 th ,1967 In<br />

Barra ao Rio Azul, Rio Grande do Sul. Her parents we're<br />

Immigrations that came from Poland and Russia. At that<br />

time,they had not resources and they had to fight to get what<br />

they want<strong>ed</strong>.<br />

Thereza often mov<strong>ed</strong> the place to live,she went to:<br />

Minas Gerais, Iguaçu, Parana and others. As a child, she liv<strong>ed</strong><br />

away from school and it was necessary to walk 2 kilometers<br />

everyday. In rainy days it was complicat<strong>ed</strong>.<br />

At 15 years, she has been a Franciscan Sister because<br />

she want<strong>ed</strong> to know what it was. Thereza did catechesis,<br />

pray<strong>ed</strong>, visit<strong>ed</strong> schools and help<strong>ed</strong> ne<strong>ed</strong>ly people. She sad: “All<br />

of my family support<strong>ed</strong> me to do that. The day I go back home<br />

I’ll be welcome”.<br />

Years later, Thereza met other sisters that came from<br />

differents places. They have kept schools with the institution<br />

“Manten<strong>ed</strong>ora”, such as: Santa Isabel, Santa Clara, Santo Inacio<br />

and Sao Francisco. They also have given supplies to the parish<br />

of Moema.<br />

Most of the people she has help<strong>ed</strong> are children and<br />

teenagers who have in socially vulnerable situation, but study<br />

for free and have their lives transform<strong>ed</strong> through <strong>ed</strong>ucation and<br />

social assistance. She told “I felt very good when more people<br />

are getting better conditions”.<br />
