POTOP, MARIETA DUMITRACHE REZUMAT Conceptul de suprafa\` ocular` define]te interdependen\a func\ional` existent` [ntre cele dou` epitelii nekeratinice ale corneei ]i conjunctivei. Celulele stem limbice asigur` regenerarea epiteliului cornean survenit` [n urma diferitelor injurii. Aplicarea acestor concepte a permis progrese importante [n tratamentul arsurilor oculare. ABSTRACT The term ocular surface emphasizes the functional interdependence of the nonkeratinizing epithelium of cornea and conjunctiva. The limbal stem cells are responsable for replacement of corneal epithelium following ocular surface injuries. Over the past decades important advances in the management of chemical injury have occured based on the application of theories on ocular surface and limbal stem cells . KEY WORDS: • ocular surface, • limbal stem cells, • sterile corneal ulceration, • chemical injuries. Din punct de vedere anatomic suprafata globului ocular prezint` limite precise ce par a separa structuri diferite histologic. Limbul sclerocornean separa intre ele epiteliile corneean si cel conjunctival. Epiteliul cornean este de tip stratificat scuamos nekeratinizat compus din 5-6 straturi celulare si lipsit de celule caliciforme. El se afla intr-un proces de 27
