of providing the guest music bands with food and drink during
their stay at the festival. Considering the fact that there will be
nearly 50 guest music bands on the Sunday of the festival weekend,
you can image just how many ‘Festführer’ will be needed. Cut the
people from Lech have never let us down here. It is their generosity
that makes the ‘Festführer’ and the festival what it is: one of the
best in Vorarlberg.
L.L. ⁄ Which element of the programme are you especially looking
forward to and what should a guest at the festival definitely not
miss?
M.G. ⁄ The moment I am most looking forward to is when the
Trachtenkapelle Lech and the Festkapelle march through Lech on
Friday night, thus officially opening the arlberger Musikfest. I’d
recommend our guests: if you can manage, do no miss a SINGLe
minute! The atmosphere, the culinary delights, the bands and
musicians, the festive parade and the ‘Gemeinschaftsspiel’ where
aLL the musicians play together are all must-sees.
L.L. ⁄ Making music and celebrating together across the cultures
and ages. What is it that makes this so fascinating for you?
M.G. ⁄ Music per se is very fascinating for me and making music
in a group, in a band even more so! Working towards a common
goal, a successful musical result together, with all the successes and
setbacks is – apart from the camaraderie – the icing on the cake of
brass music.
L.L. ⁄ each year the Trachtenkapelle Lech travels to its partner
town Beaver Creek in the uS. How do people there like traditional
brass music?
M.G. ⁄ Well, for americans traditional austrian-Bohemian-
Moravian brass music is something very special you don’t hear
every day. But the reactions tell their own tale, for most of the
people the ‘ompaah-Band from austria’ is simply ‘awesome!
L.L. ⁄ and what kind of music do you like to listen to at home?
M.G. ⁄ oh I’m actually very flexible, I listen to everything, just as
the fancy takes me. But, as I’m getting older more and more often
it’s…you got me there: polkas and marches.
