Was kann das Theater tun, wenn die Menschen
nicht ins Theater gehen? Ganz einfach:
das Theater geht zu den Menschen.
Das Stuttgarter Theater Lokstoff setzt diese
Idee schon seit 2002 konsequent um.
Mit spannenden Inszenierungen an außergewöhnlichen
Orten macht das Ensemble
Theater im öffentlichen Raum.
LOKSTOFF!
Mittlerweile hat Lokstoff zahlreiche
öffentliche Orte in Stuttgart erfolgreich
bespielt. Die Aufführungen sind fast immer
ausverkauft. Und das mit gutem
Grund: Neben Bussen und Bahnen, Geschäften
und Bürogebäuden dienten bereits
spektakuläre Orte wie das Kunstmuseum
Stuttgart oder der Hauptbahnhof
als Spielorte.
Mit dem Stück Top Dogs von Urs Widmer
landete Lokstoff 2004 seinen ersten
großen Erfolg, der dem Theater sogar
den Innovationspreis der Region Stuttgart
einbrachte. Der Clou: Die sieben
Schauspielerinnen und Schauspieler
führten das Stück am Germanwings-
Abfl uggate auf. Das Zusammenwirken
mit dem normalen Betrieb, den Pas-
santen und Passagieren, all das gehört
zum Konzept. Wilhelm Schneck, Gründungsmitglied
von Lokstoff erinnert sich:
„Während einer Aufführung kamen die
Passagiere eines Flugs aus Indien am
Gate vorbei. In dem Moment Stand gerade
ein Schauspieler nur in Unterhose da.
Das hat schon zu erstaunten Gesichtern
geführt.“
Aktuell hat sich Lokstoff für die große
Landesausstellung Weltsichten den antiken
Mythos des Prometheus vorgenommen.
Sechs Regisseurinnen und Regisseure
gehen in sechs Szenen an sechs
unterschiedlichen Orten der Ausstellung
der Frage nach, wie unsere Kultur überhaupt
entstanden ist. Prometheus Reloaded
6.0 ist bis 21. Dezember 2011 in der
Großen Landesausstellung Weltsichten im
Württembergischen Kunstverein am
Schlossplatz Stuttgart zu sehen.
What can theatre do if people don’t
go to the theatre? Simple – the theatre
goes to the people. Stuttgart’s Lokstoff!
theatre company has been bringing
exciting performances to the public since
2003. For the past eight years, the
company has staged plays in public
places in and around Stuttgart, with
venues ranging from buses, shops and
offi ces to the State Gallery and the main
station. The group made their big
breakthrough with Urs Widmer’s Top
Dogs, a performance which took place at
the Germanwings departure gate
(pictured) in Stuttgart airport. The show
was meant to incorporate the everyday
goings-on around the gate, and did so a
little too successfully, as founding
member Wilhelm Schneck recalls: “At
one point during the performance, some
passengers from a fl ight from India
walked past the gate, just as one actor
was stripped down to his underpants.
Some of them were pretty shocked.”
Lokstoff!’s latest show is a dramatisation
of the ancient Greek myth, Prometheus,
and explores the origins of our culture in
six scenes, set in six different locations.
Prometheus Reloaded 6.0 runs until 21
December as part of the Weltsichten
(World Views) exhibition in the
Kunstgebäude des Württemburgischen
Kunstvereins, on Stuttgart’s Schlossplatz.
