BITTERFELD-WOLFEN
getrennt.
Greppin besitzt einen historisch gewachsenen Dorfkern.
Die anderen Dorfteile entstanden nach der Jahrhundert
wende innerhalb weniger Jahrzehnte.
abwanderung
Die Anteile der Altersgruppen innerhalb der Stadt
Bitterfeld-Wolfen liegen, fasst man größere Gruppen
Teil 2
town was a village settlement that only received a town
charter in 1958. Between 1895 and 1915, Agfa Wolfen
built a number of garden town colonies with rural-style
small houses and detached houses. Later on, multi-storey
building blocks followed in the period between the
World Wars, then detached houses during the Nazi period
and settlements built with large prefab building blocks
and slabs during GDR times. By 1989, Wolfen-Nord had
developed into the largest prefab-housing settlement in
the town with more than 13,000 flats accommodating
35,000 inhabitants.
Today, Wolfen has only a few architectural witnesses left
of its important industrial history, among them the theatre
built in 1927 by the Agfa film factory, which today is the
“Municipal Culture House”; administrative building 041
which is a listed building, parts of which have been used
as the town hall since 2010; and the industry and film museum.
The villages of Rödgen and Zschepkau located west
of the A 9 autobahn also belong to the town of Wolfen.
The village street with its village green forms the urban
centre of Bobbau. Characteristic features are farm houses,
church, manor, school and a baking house from 1735
which was built in the middle of the street. The south
of Bobbau has grown together with the north of Wolfen
because of the residential housing settlements in Wolfen-
Nord from the past century, which have already been
described above. Bobbau is only separated from Jenitz
by the Dessau railway line.
Greppin has a historically grown village centre. The other
parts of the village developed within just a few decades
following the turn of the century. The town district of
Greppin is characterised by continuous rows of buildings
along the streets mainly made of clinker bricks.
There is a new settlement with multi-storey buildings
south of the village centre (Gagfah settlement).
The formerly village-like appearance of Holzweißig
changed due to its location on both sides of the Bitterfeld-Halle
railway route and the mining activities. The development
of the Holzweißig farming village into a merely
residential place was for a long time mainly influenced by
the mining companies and their miners.
Thalheim maintained its original village structure for
the longest time. However, new industrial settlements,
above all, the so-called Solar Valley as well as the construction
of private homes since Reunification have also
noticeably changed this place.
1.6 Demographic developments/age structure
development/migration out of the area
Within the town of Bitterfeld-Wolfen, the age groups
“children and youth” and “persons of employable age”
are under-represented compared to the average for the
administrative district. In contrast, the number of “persons
of retirement age” is clearly higher.
