zum Beispiel ganz banal ein „Uebergwändli“ oder ein paar
Gummistiefel.
Wie ist der Umgang mit den männlichen Kollegen
Überraschend normal. Ich habe anfangs befürchtet, auf Widerstand
zu stossen. Nicht, weil ich eine Frau bin, sondern vor allem,
weil ich von der Hochschule komme und noch ein „Greenhorn“
bin, eine Theoretikerin. Ich werde auch nicht speziell geschont,
wobei meine Arbeit körperlich keine hohen Ansprüche stellt. Die
Mineure hingegen leisten hier sehr harte physische Arbeit, wofür
ich grössten Respekt habe, denn mir wäre es nicht möglich, diese
Leistung zu erbringen. Anfangs, als Neuling, wirst du natürlich
neugierig angeschaut, aber nach zwei, drei Wochen wurde der
Umgang ganz normal und offen. Vor allem auch, als die Arbeiter
merkten, dass ich eben Portugiesisch und Italienisch kann. Ich
werde höchstens hochgenommen wegen meines Bündner Dialekts.
Was sind Ihre nächsten beruflichen Schritte, Ihre Fernziele
Ich mache noch ein zweites Praktikum im Bereich Planung. Was
ich jetzt schon weiss: Die Bereiche Tunnelbau und Wasserbau
reizen mich. Grosse Bauwerke wie Tunnel und auch Kraftwerke
faszinieren mich. Mein Berufsweg ist aber noch offen, erst liegen
noch zwei Jahre Studium bis zum Master vor mir. Was ich aber
weiss: Auf Baustellen fühle ich mich sehr wohl.

What is it like working with so many men
It’s surprisingly normal. At first, I was afraid that I would face
resistance; not because I’m a woman, but because I come
from academia and have no practical experience, just theoretic.
I’m not coddled, but my work hasn’t been especially
physical work. The tunnelers, on the other hand, really do a lot
of hard physical labor. I have a great deal of respect for them;
I could not do the work they do. For the first few weeks there
were some curious looks, but after that everything was normal.
The workers noticed that I speak Portuguese and Italian
and sometimes I’m teased because of my Bündner accent.
What is your next step going to be What are your longterm
goals
I am going to do another internship, this time in planning. One
thing I can tell you already: I am very interested in tunnel and
hydraulics construction. Big projects like tunnels or electric
plants are fascinating. As to my career, that is still wide open.
I have another two years until I finish a master’s degree but I
have found out that I like working in construction.
