WITH OPERATING REGULATIONS
length of the transition piece (length of the swing arm).
For the precise tightening torque, please
refer to the assembly instructions for the
height-adjustable drawgear.
A lifting and adjusting device can be optionally
installed between the drawgear and the over-run hitch.
The steering arms of the adjusting device allow pivoting
by -10∞ to +49∞ in six different angular positions.
The over-run or traction device is held in a horizontal
position.
An integrated pneumatic spring automatically generates
a lifting force which reduces the force that needs to
be applied in operating.
Adjustment procedure: Pull the spring clips off the clamp nuts, which
can now be unscrewed until the teeth are free.
Then the angular position of the transition piece can be
adjusted.
It is vital to ensure that the over-run hitch
or traction device is always aligned parallel
to the drawgear. Vehicles must never
be driven with an over-run hitch that is not
parallel to the drawgear.
When the coupling height has been adjusted,
the radial teethings are clamped together by
the nuts, and secured against loosening by means of
the spring clips.
10 CHECKS ON NEW VEHICLES
! After the first drive, or after 50km at the
latest, check that the wheel screws are still
firmly tightened.
10.1 Checks to be made before each drive
- State of tyres / sufficient air pressure?
- Light system working?
- Drawgear support wheel pulled up and fixed?
(The support wheel should always be parallel to the
direction of driving).
- Ball coupler secure?
(The ball coupler must be securely clicked into
position on the ball.
You can read off the coupling state from the label or
embossing on the ball coupling
(see 2.2)).
The trailer must not be driven unless the
indicator is pointing to the green zone mar-
ked "+”!
- Safety cable fitted?
- Safety brake released?
- In height-adjustable drawgear:
Articulated joints firmly fixed?
Bolts locked?
11 BASIC RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION OF THE
TRAILER
- Overloading the trailer, which puts too much strain on
the chassis components, is not permitted.
- Extreme shifts in the centre of gravity caused by
incorrect loading must be avoided at all costs.
- Heavy objects must be positioned in the area of the
axles, and as low as possible.
- No overstrain through a rash or rough driving style.
Impacts and shocks must be avoided.
Driving speed should be adjusted to the road surface
and the load in the trailer. This particularly applies
during cornering.
