L.L. ⁄ Can you compare the quality to that of renowned brands?<br />
A.F. ⁄ We are way too small to produce low-quality skis. Because<br />
many producers have minimum order quantities we can only<br />
buy racing edges and coatings and we need wooden cores that are<br />
made especially for us. Especially coloured coatings have to be<br />
bought together with other custom-makers. The minimum quantity<br />
here is 2 km, which translates to 500 pairs of skis in one colour.<br />
And with the sandwich process that we use, the quality is always<br />
high. Because of the different types of fabrics that are combined<br />
with the wood, our skis are extremely high-quality.<br />
L.L. ⁄ Does one have the choice between different types of skis?<br />
A.F. ⁄ Yes, each customer has to assess their own level of skill. There<br />
is the passionate skier who has really tried out every type of ski<br />
and sounded them all out. They know exactly what they want.<br />
Others prefer to describe what their skiing days look like and with<br />
our catalogue of questions we find out together what the right<br />
model is for them. In total we offer nine standardised products<br />
with elements that can be chosen flexibly.<br />
L.L. ⁄ How would you describe your typical customer?<br />
A.F. ⁄ Our first customers were professionals from the skiing scene.<br />
Then came the “geeks” who brought a lot of knowledge about the<br />
different materials. Meanwhile many recreational athletes come<br />
to us, too. Their motives are all different. The wish for individual<br />
design, interest in the production process, the “seeking the<br />
experience” or the search for a cool present are what lead people to<br />
us. Our seminar is structured in a way to make sure our trainers<br />
always guide and help you through the process. No special skills or<br />
manual dexterity are needed to take part in the courses.<br />

L.L. ⁄ Where do you trainers come from? Do they need special<br />
training?<br />
A.F. ⁄ Ski building used to be an apprenticeship. Today that doesn’t<br />
exist anymore. We have perfected our craft through endless testing.<br />
