In the yearsbefore the fall of the wall in 1989 the MFC was an importantplatform for expert discussions between East and West. TheMFC in Dornbirn was a constant factor over the last five decadesand always a highlight of the year. Bereits bei der ersten Veranstaltung im Juli1962 beteiligten sich Denkendorfer Forscher mit einem Vortrag amProgramm und arbeiteten aktiv an der Gestaltung und Organisationdes internationalen Branchentreffs mit. Die thematische Ausrichtungder Tagung auf „das breite Fachgebiet der Erzeugung und Verarbeitungvon Chemiefasern“ – wie es im ersten Programm zur Tagung1962 hieß – greift bis heute die Kernthemen unserer Forschungsarbeitin idealer Weise auf. Mit Freude nutzen wir jedes Jahr die internationaleChemiefasertagung Dornbirn als Kommunikationsplattform. Even at the very first congress, in July 1962, Denkendorfresearchers contributed to the program and actively participated in theplanning and organization of this international industry event. The congress‘focus on ”the broad field of production and processing of manmadefibers“ – as it said in the first program of this congress in 1962 –ideally pictures the core issue of our research work, until today.With pleasure, we use the Dornbirn international Man-made FibersCongress as a communication platform year after year. It is a matterof give and take – at its best – effective knowledge transfer and intensedialog. We appreciate its internationality and the excellent choice oftopics and contributions. Year after year, we embrace this specialopportunity for exchanging ideas between research and industry.The annual presentation of the PAUL SCHLACK MAN-MADE FIBERAWARD at the congress emphasizes our close connection withDornbirn as well. Paul Schlack, the inventor of nylon, took over theman-made fiber department at Stuttgart technical university in 1962 –at the time of the first Dornbirn Man-made Fibers Congress.
