Dazu müssen auchbestehende Kenntnisse ausfindig gemacht werden, die kodifiziert(Handbücher, in Prozessbeschreibungen und Datenbanken etc)oder personalisiert (Fachwissen wird in informellen Expertenrundenausgetauscht oder über Mentoringprogramme) gespeichert undweiter gegeben werden. Ein reines Abspeichern hat sich als nureingeschränkt ziel führend erwiesen.Das Web 2.0 bietet Unternehmen den uneingeschränkten Austauschzwischen den Hierarchieebenen und bietet dadurch neueFormen der Zusammenarbeit und der Arbeitsorganisation. AberWissensmanagement ist vor allem auch fächerübergreifend undwird heute und in Zukunft für alle Branchen von hoher Bedeutung.Dabei soll das persönliche Wissensmanagement in unseremBildungszeitalter nicht vergessen werden: Neben Lernen und Kommunizierensind auch kreative Komponenten, Ideenvielfalt, Out-ofthe-BoxDenken und der Praxisbezug (Fallbeispiele, Workshopsetc.) für die Bewältigung immer neuer, wechselnder Aufgaben diewichtigsten Führungskompetenzen.Die Positionierung und der Erfolg der CHEMIEFASERTAGUNGDORNBIRN als Kommunikationsplattform wird durch die Mitgliederdes Programmkomitees (die für den permanenten wissenschaftlichen/industriellenInput mit Innovationscharakter sorgen) und dieFachmedien (die durch ihre weltweiten Kontakte ebenfalls denZugang zu Experten und neuen Entwicklungen ermöglichen)getragen. Dafür möchte ich mich ausdrücklich bedanken.Als Symbol für die Wertigkeit einer nachhaltigen, gesunden Umweltund als Zeichen der Verbundenheit mit der Stadt Dornbirn wurdeaus Anlass des 50. Most importantly,knowledge management is inter-disciplinary in nature and willcontinue to be of great importance to all sectors.In a society based on life-long learning personal knowledgemanagement should not be neglected: In order to be able to copewith ever new and constantly changing tasks, learning and communicationmust be complemented by other components, such ascreativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and keeping in touch with reality(case studies, workshops etc.).The DORNBIRN MAN-MADE FIBERS CONGRESS owes its positionand success as a communication platform to the members of itsProgramme Committee (who ensure a continuous input of innovativescientific and industrial insights) and the specialised media(whose world-wide contacts provide access to experts and newdevelopments). It is to them that I would like to express my heartfeltthanks.
