An interview with Ernst Bannwart
– long-time charter cruise client.
What past event on Lake Lucerne
do you remember most fondly,
and why?
In my very own way, I personally
love every departure from the
shore. Somehow it’s an unforgettable
experience and calls for an
encore every time. Maybe this has
something to do with the general
human desire get away and find
personal space and freedom. Well,
if I do think back, my fondest
memory is probably of my very
first event on the brand-new salon
ship MS Waldstätter in April 1998.
I had only recently become selfemployed
and was tasked with organising
a sophisticated “cruise
through time and space” for a discerning
client. This allowed me to
use a very creative approach and
we then combined a special planetary
projection technique with
the natural surroundings of the
lake, in order to create an amazing
visual effect. I look forward to a
similar day-trip in 2014, then as
part of a company anniversary.
During the past few years you
have frequently chartered ships
chartEr crUIsE
from SGV for special event cruises.
Are there differences between the
early years and more recently?
It is safe to say that Lake Lucerne
is hard to beat as the perfect natural
stage for any cultural event. At
the same time, I draw a lot of excitement
from knowing, that each
event will be totally different, all
depending on the time of the year,
time of the day, outside temperature
and general weather condition.
One consistent factor and an
important benchmark, however,
remains the perfect service of the
dedicated crew on the ship! I have
been able to rely on such professional
dedication and superior customer
service for each of the 17
charter cruises that I have organ-
