power units on the Panorama-Yacht
represent a leap to the
future and could very well become
a new trendsetter! The system has
been built around the energy-saving
benchmarks of efficiency and flexibility.
The vessel has a total of three
diesel generators, which produce
power for both the propulsion drives
and the onboard grid. Depending
on passenger load and speed requirements,
one or even two diesel
generators may be switched-off. The
engineers at Shiptec Lucerne have
calculated that the higher acquisition
costs of the diesel-electric system
will quickly be compensated
through lower fuel consumption
and reduced operating costs. Compared
to a conventional propulsion
system, the maintenance costs are
the same.
Deployment
The Panorama-Yacht will primarily
be deployed on 1-hour cruises
in the Bay of Lucerne. The vessel
promises to offer an extraordinary
cruising and sightseeing experience
for up to 300 passengers. All
guests onboard will have access to
a professional audio guide that is
available in 11 different languages:
German, English, French, Italian,
Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin,
Russian, Hindi and Korean.
The audio guide provides interesting
information and colourful anecdotes
about all of the historic
monuments and scenic highlights
along the lake. The comfortable
seating arrangements on the upper
deck allow great views of Mount
Pilatus, Mount Rigi and the shoreline
of Lucerne from all vantage
points. A true highlight is of course
the convertible upper deck roof,
which can be opened or closed
depending on the weather conditions,
so that all guests may face
the sun but still be sheltered from
the elements. Another unique feature
is the aqua terrace on the main
deck aft, allowing passengers to be
even closer to the water and feel
refreshed.
There is no class separation on
the vessel, making the entire ship
accessible to everyone and giving
both the main deck and the upper
deck a noble atmosphere. Onboard
