Ein Weihnachtslied im Winter
A Carol In Winter
Was kann ich nur sagen? Die Zeit vergeht schneller,
wenn man das nicht will. Sechs Monate sind jetzt
vergangen und Gott leitet mich dabei.
Es ist interessant, wie die Dinge unter demselben
Himmel so unterschiedlich sein können, aufgrund
von kulturellen Unterschieden, Klima, politischen
Gegebenheiten und so weiter.
Man erwartet aber auch nicht, dass Leute mit
verschiedenem kulturellem Hintergrund sich genau
gleich verhalten - in diesem Fall Sambier und
Deutsche. In Sambia werden Kultur und Traditionen
nie an Bedeutung verlieren, egal wie schnell die Welt
der Technik und das Wissen wächst. Über meine
jetzige Heimat, Deutschland, kann ich das nicht
sagen. Denn meiner Meinung nach ändert sich für die
Deutschen alles mit dem Wandel der Zeit.
Ich war sehr beeindruckt von dem Weihnachtsfest. Es
ist so anders als in Sambia. Statt in die Kirche zu gehen
und Weihnachtslieder zu singen, verbringt man die
Zeit mit der Familie, um gemeinsam zu essen und zu
trinken. Das Wetter war auch anders: statt Regen war es
sehr kalt und deswegen für mich „Ein Weihnachtslied
What can I say? Time moves faster even when you
don‘t want it to. Six months down the line, God is
guiding me still.
It‘s interesting how things can be so different under
the same sky, probably because of various reasons like
culture differences, climate, different political set up
and the list goes on. You obviously won‘t expect the
same behaviour to be portrayed by people from two
different cultural backgrounds: in this case Zambia
and Deutschland. For Zambia, regardless of how fast
the world of technology and knowledge grows, our
cultures and traditions are never left behind. I can‘t
say the same about my current home (Deutschland)
because in my opinion for them everything changes
as time changes.
I was impressed with how the Christmas celebrations
are arranged. It´s so different from the way we do it
back home. Unlike going to church singing Christmas
carols you spend that time with the family as a whole
- eating and drinking. The weather itself was different,
unlike the rain it was cold and so it was „A Carol In
Winter“. It‘s more like you spend the whole Christmas
indoors, no party of any kind just strictly family time.
And they have Christmas markets which are only
there during the festive season. The size of the markets
depends on how big and busy your city is.
Even though it‘s cold I had a very good experience in a
different weather pattern. I enjoyed the experience of
snow: though it was freezing it was great. I don‘t mean
to say I love German winter because it is way too cold.
I don‘t like it.
From my observation it‘s always the same thing with
Germans and their paperwork. I don‘t think I will get
used to it because it‘s way too much for me: with time
it is increasing. But what can I do? That‘s Germany.
My work at the Kinderstation is getting better
compared to my previous months. My experience also
comes with challenges but that is normal for work. My
colleagues are very good. At least I can say that about
those I have worked with. I haven‘t had the chance to
interact with others.
