sagen, dass ich es noch schwieriger finde, ein Land
in Afrika als in Europa zu verallgemeinern. Allein in
Sambia werden zum Beispiel 72 verschiedene Bantu-
Sprachen und Englisch gesprochen, wobei Letzteres aus
der Kolonialzeit herrührt. Jede Bevölkerungsgruppe
setzt die eigene Kultur quasi durch die Sprache ein
bisschen von der der anderen ab. Es wäre also quasi
viel richtiger von Deutschen in einem Atemzug mit
z.B. der Volksgruppe der Chitonga zu sprechen.
Nach meiner Rückkehr war vieles so geblieben, wie
ich es verlassen hatte. Nur dass sich unsere Familie hat
sich vergrößert hatte: um die Welpen von Shadey und
Sugar.
Direkt am ersten Tag gab es ein Treffen der Youth-
Group für ihren Schutzpatron Don Bosco. Nach einer
kurzen Messe wurde über ihn gesungen und kleine
Sketche vorgeführt. Der Rest des Tages war dann sehr
frei gestaltet mit einer großen Box, um die wir im
Kreis getanzt haben, und einem großen Sportangebot
mit Volleyball, Netball und Fußball.
Auf dieses Wochenende folgte direkt meine Arbeit an
der „Flamboyant Special School“, an der behinderte
und gehörlose Kinder unterrichtet werden. Die

Directly on the first day there was a meeting of the
Youth-Group for their patron Don Bosco. After a short
mass they sang about him and showed little sketches.
The rest of the day we spent time dancing around big
speakers and with a big sports offer with volleyball,
netball and football.
This weekend was immediately followed by my work at
the „Flamboyant Special School“, where handicapped
and hearing impaired children are taught. First week
and I was already allowed to help with the lessons.
On Friday after the meeting in the morning, where
I learned my first words in signed English when the
national anthem was sung, there was a nice sports unit
in the afternoon. Like in the new family, I was warmly
welcomed by students and teachers. (In general,
I think, without wanting to generalise, that I find
cordiality here much more common than for example
in Germany. One of the things I will try to take home
with me in any case).
The second and third week I worked in a class with
hearing impaired children. For me as somebody
who loves music very much and who is therefore
very dependant on hearing, work in this class is
very interesting. And even though I‘m in this class
only since a very short time I think that I already
understand a lot of sign language.
In the future I would like to attend lessons of other
classes as much as possible, but I also want to continue
to expand my knowledge in this new language.
