Majolika-Biscotteria
Höhe: 16,5 cm.
Durchmesser: 31,5 cm.
Castelli, datiert "1744".
Große Gebäckdose. Flaches, zylindrisches Gefäß, der
Deckel leicht überstehend, mit erhabenem Rand. Trägt
in einer geschweiften Kartusche die Jahreszahl "1744".
Den Rand des Deckels umläuft ein Band mit flammenförmigen
Bögen, die radial nach außen laufen. Auf dem
Deckel ist in einer geschweiften Kartusche ein Wappen
mit drei Kugeln auf blauem Fond zu sehen. Darüber
verläuft ein Spruchband "CASTELLO / ABBAS. LIBE-
RATVS / TERRE". Unter dem Band steht ein "R" ge -
schrieben, wobei es sich um ein Monogramm handeln
könnte. Auf weißem Fond Bemalung in Blau, Schwarz
und Orangerot. Glasur leicht berieben, ansonsten einwandfreier
Zustand.
Anmerkung:
Das Wappen ist dem der Medici in Florenz ähnlich,
könnte aber auch das Wappen der Durobin in Turin sein,
das jedoch die einzelne Kugel unten angeordnet hat.
Eine Familie Cheluzzi aus Colle ordnet drei Kugeln wie
abgebildet an, jedoch auf rotem Fond. (9300035)

Height: 16.5 cm.
Diameter: 31.5 cm.
Castelli, dated '1744'.
Large biscuit jar. Short, cylindrical jar with slightly
protruding cover and embossed rim. Bearing a
curved cartouche with the date 1744. The rim of the
cover is banded by flame-shaped, radial arches. The
cover features a cartouche with three balls on a blue
ground. Above, a band inscribed CASTELLO/ ABBAS.
LIBE RATVS/ TERRE. Below the band the letter 'R',
which could be a monogram. Painted in blue, black
and tan gerine on a white ground. Minor glaze wear,
other wise flawless condition.
Notes:
The Medici coat of arms in Florence is similar, but the
present example could also refer to the arms of the
Durobin family in Durin, which, however, has only one
ball in the lower half. The arms of the Cherluzzi family
from Colle also features three balls, but on a red ground.
