Großes Majolika-Vorratsgefäß aus
dem Ospedale S. Maria della Scola
Höhe: 27,7 cm.
Breite: 28 cm.
Tiefe: 23 cm.
Siena, datiert "1440".
Doppelhenkelgefäß mit ovaloidem Körper, seitlich
angesetzten, breiten Henkeln und kleinem Hals. Das
gotische Dekor zeigt einen heraldischen Löwen, dessen
Kontur mit etwas Abstand nachgezogen wird, gerahmt
von Eichenlaub. Santa Maria della Scala in Florenz oder
Siena hat verso als Emblem die mit einem Kreuz be -
krön te Leiter. Bemalung in Blau und Mangan. Glasur -
ab platzungen und Chips an Fuß und Kanten.

Durchmesser: 26 cm.
Castelli, 17. Jahrhundert.
Anbieteschale auf hohem, balusterförmigem Fuß. Die
Lippe wölbt sich als Ring um den flachen Spiegel. Die
Lippe ziert ein feines Muster mit stilisierten Blüten. Im
Spiegel steht eine weibliche allegorische Figur der See -
fahrt. Ihr rechtes Bein steht fest auf der Weltkugel, ihr
linker Fuß ruht auf einem Schiffsruder. Sie deutet mit
leicht erhobenem Arm zum Himmel und eine Draperie
umweht ihre Gestalt. In der anderen Hand hält sie einen
Stab der Winde und eine Plakette mit dem Monogramm
"A. L.". Hinter ihr öffnet sich die See wie ein Kanal zwischen
flankierenden befestigten Städten am Ufer. Die
Bemalung in Blau und Gelb mit Umrisslinien in dunk lem
Mangan. Minimaler Farbab rieb an der Lippe. Bruchrest.

Height: 8.4 cm.
Diameter: 26 cm.
Castelli, 17th century.
Shallow dish on a tall, baluster shaped foot. The
moulded lip is painted with a delicate ornament of
stylised flowers. The centre depicts a female Allegory
of Seafaring. Her right foot stands firm on a globe, her
left foot rests on a rudder. A cape billows around her
and she points at the sky with a slightly raised arm.
The other hand holds the 'staff of the winds' and a
plaque monogrammed 'A.L.'. The sea widens out behind
her like an estuary between two cities flanking
the shores. Painted in blue and yellow with dark manganese
contour lines. Minimal paint wear on the rim.
Cracked and restored.

Ovoid body with broad paired handles and a short neck.
The Gothic ornamentation depicts a heraldic lion rampant,
enclosed within a border, which loosely follows
the outline of the lion, in turn enclosed by oak foliage.
Verso an emblem of Santa Maria della Scola in Floren ce
or Siena depicting a ladder with a crucifix at the top.
Painted in blue and manganese. Glaze chips on the foot
and rims.
