to regain control of these very independent
breeders, while breeders from many countries
have just come together to create a world organization
of the Arabian horse.
Return to the True Values
In 1972 the French Arabian Horse Association
was created and the founding members decided
to organize an international competition
in Paris, the first edition of which would be
held at Parc de Vincennes on the occasion of
the 2nd Horse Show in 1973.
1975 sees the reappearance of purebred Arabian
races, and the first edition of the famous
Florac endurance ride won by Persik. The
Arabian horse was saved in France, at least
in terms of numbers! The organization of
shows, regulations, training of officials and
the fight against deviant practices, which are
emerging, lead the main organizing countries
to create in 1983 the ECAHO, its missions
for fairplay and the protection of horses are
still actual today!
Western selection oriented towards sporting
or beauty competitions, has tended to
separate the two fundamental qualities: beauty
and functionality, while also forgetting
the importance of genetics and the study of
lineages in mating, which distances the current
Arabian horse of its ancestral selection
mode, in the original spirit.
In conclusion, the Arabian Horse is a multifaceted
jewel: witness and actor of the history
of peoples, sophisticated weapon of war,
work of art, religious symbol, loyal companion,
accomplished sportsman. We have received
it as a legacy from the Bedouin peoples
who have pampered it from the start and
then distinguished people who have spread it
around the world and made it evolve to the
present day. Paradoxically the Arabian Horse
is currently under attack as much in the countries
of the cradle which are in ceaseless wars,
as in the rest of the world however rather rich
and in peace. In our materialist societies the
Arabian horse has sometimes become an
"object", at the mercy of drifts.
It seems essential to me, through the dissemination
of knowledge, literature and art, to
RESACRALIZE the Arabian Horse. Relearn to
marvel at him. To take care that future generations
of breeders want to study every detail
of its wonderful heritage, to inspire them in
their daily work. Thus aware and proud of the
treasure in our hands, we will be more motivated
to preserve it and work for its positive
evolution, without distorting it!

beautiful, it is because it is the best and its
beauty is only the materialization of all its
qualities"

Kann (Dénsouté / Kita) *1927 was exported to Tersk Stud in Russia in 1930. He became one of the
main sources of athletic ability in Russian Arabian breeding and his progeny dominated racing.
Korej (Kann / Rixalina) *1939 bred in Russia. He is a blend of Crabbet and French lines. Korej was a
successful race horse as well as an important sire. He left 211 offspring in Russia.
Kankan (Korej / Nagrada) *1954 bred in Russia. He is the sire of Persik, who founded a dynasty of
endurance horses in France.
