the event as pleasant as possible for
delegates and exhibitors”, underscores
Thamm. “The central catering area
and the ‘Point of Shoes’ area are of
great importance because they provide
an opportunity for personal discussions.
Our wish or rather our urgent
request as organiser is active participation
of the exhibitors in fl eshing out
the pertinent Key Topic.”
“The PoS concept with Key Topics
places us in an ideal situation”, commented
exhibitor Christian Trebs in the
concluding discussion. “If we exhibitors
fail to grasp this opportunity and do
not make best use of the topic, then
we only have ourselves to blame.”
April PoS Focus on “Lean, Clean,
Sustainable”
The next PoS event will take place on
the 19th and 20th of April 2011. The
Key Topic will be “Lean, Clean, Sustainable
– Shaping the Shoe Industry
of the Future” or, paraphrased in Ger-
N E W S L E T T E R
man, “Sauber, besser, zukunftsfähig
– Konzepte für die Schuhindustrie von
morgen”. What does the event hold in
store for visitors and exhibitors?
The buzzword “lean production” fi rst
appeared in the 1980s. The basic idea
is to optimise processes and workfl ows
in a company by intelligent organisation
and innovative changes within
the value chain and to minimise waste.
“Clean“ – the footwear industry
clearly has the intention to improve
its performance in all areas. Hazardous
substances have no place in the
products or the production processes
of the footwear industry and should
be avoided wherever possible. What
is meant by “sustainable” and what
does the term imply for the industry?
The 2011 April PoS event will address
precisely this topic. Come to the next
PoS and join in the discussions – we
are looking forward to seeing you!
Facts about Point of Shoes –
International Fair for Fashion,
Materials and Production
Point of Shoes or PoS for short is
the venue for fashion materials and
components and technologies and
takes place in Spring and in Autumn.
Each PoS event has a certain
Keynote Topic, and offers relevant
seminars, workshops, and discussion
sessions. This concept has the
goal of intensifying communication
between experts. The Point of
Shoes industry forum is organised
by the PFI subsidiary ISC Germany.
The main focus of PoS is the exchange of ideas, whether in a technical lecture (here Dipl. Phys. Thomas Obens) or in a
concluding discussion (from left to right: Karl-Ernst Kohlhepp, Alsa GmbH, Thomas Fröhlich, W. L. Gore + Associates,
Petra Salewski, Sternefeld Verlag, and Uwe Thamm, ISC Germany)
Der Austausch steht bei der PoS im Mittelpunkt, sei es bei den Fachvorträgen (hier Dipl. Phys. Thomas Obens) oder bei
der Abschlussdiskussion (von links: Karl-Ernst Kohlhepp, Alsa GmbH, Thomas Fröhlich, W. L. Gore + Associates,
