Seminars for Industry and
Commerce
The International Shoe Competence
Center Pirmasens, or ISC
Germany for short, is a teaching
and research centre for the
leather and footwear industry
and for the trade. In the two
years of its existence, ISC has
already earned an excellent
reputation in the industry. ISC
is heavily involved in training
and further education. This is
apparent from the cooperation
agreements made with the University
of Applied Sciences, the
German College of Shoe Design
and Technology (Deutsche Schuh -
fachschule), and Pirmasens Vocational
Schools, and also from the
ISC seminar programme, which
can be viewed on the ISC web
site and seen in announcements
in the trade press. In addition,
ISC also develops customised
training programmes, which can
be held at ISC or on the client’s
premises anywhere in the world.
ISC trainers are experienced experts
who impart their specialist knowledge
in subject-specific modules geared to
the needs of industry and commerce.
On request, ISC also develops individualised
training programmes which can
take place either on the ISC premises
at Pirmasens or on the client’s premises

anywhere in the world. Depending
upon their purpose and content, the
duration of these customised training
programmes can range from one or
several days to several months or even
years in the case of long-term programmes,
for example in the planning
and equipping of new production
facilities or training of skilled workers
for footwear production.
In the ultra modern ISC “training
factory” at Pirmasens, students from
the University of Applied Sciences, the
German College of Shoe Design and
Technology, and vocational students,
as well as the participants in ISC seminars,
can apply the theoretical knowledge
they have acquired in practice.
