Professional communication systems<br />

Phonak off ers industry-leading communication solutions<br />

for applications in the areas of security, surveillance<br />

and emergency services. These communication systems are<br />

used around the world in critical situations where lives<br />

depend upon being understood clearly and quickly. Users<br />

therefore need to be able to rely completely on the performance<br />

of these systems. Phonak communication systems<br />

are also used on the stage, on television and in guided<br />

Hearing protection<br />

Combining diff erent state-of-the-art technologies allows<br />

intelligent hearing protection solutions to be developed.<br />

On the one hand they provide protection for the hearing of<br />

people exposed to loud noise at work, while on the other<br />

hand radio communication is assured with work colleagues.<br />

Hearing protection devices always provide the right level<br />

of safety when noise levels fl uctuate. In quiet moments<br />

users need to be able to hear ambient noises and to communicate<br />

with other people without having to constantly<br />

remove the hearing protection devices. Phonak hearing<br />

protection devices are also very comfortable to wear,<br />

because the custom-made ear shells are produced with<br />

micrometer precision laser technology.<br />

Phonak Acoustic Implants<br />

Phonak Acoustic Implants develops the middle ear implant<br />

DACS (direct acoustic cochlear stimulation). This combines<br />

Phonak’s expertise in the fi eld of signal processing<br />

and hearing system fi tting with a new actuator principle.<br />

DACS caters for a group of end users with special medical<br />

indications and a diff erent hearing loss profi le than for<br />

traditional hearing instruments. The procedure to implant<br />

the device and the follow-up care is provided in ENT<br />

clinics, which means these devices cannot be distributed<br />
