She currently lives in upstate New York with seven dogs, one cat, two donkeys,<br />

twelve sheep, one goat, five horses, one miniature horse, twelve ducks,<br />

and three primates: her husband, Chuck, her daughter, Kate, and her son, Tom.<br />

Delbert G. Carlson, DVM<br />

Del Carlson received his veterinary medical degree from the University of<br />

Minnesota <strong>Veterinary</strong> School in 1954 and interned at the Rawley Memorial<br />

Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts.<br />

He was a member of the Missouri <strong>Veterinary</strong> Medical Association and a<br />

past president of the Greene County Human Society.<br />

Dr. Carlson is also the co-author of Cat Owner’s <strong>Home</strong> <strong>Veterinary</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong>.<br />

Until his death, “Doc” could be found on his farm, caring for his horses,<br />

cats, and dogs. He consulted at the Carlson Pet Hospital, often volunteering<br />

to spend the night with a sick dog or cat.<br />

Liisa D. Carlson, DVM<br />

Liisa Carlson received her veterinary<br />

medical degree from the University of<br />

Missouri College of <strong>Veterinary</strong><br />

Medicine and was a member of the<br />

<strong>Veterinary</strong> Honor Society, Phi Zeta.<br />

In 1988, Dr. Carlson returned to<br />

Springfield, Missouri, to join her<br />

father, Dr. Delbert Carlson, at the<br />

Carlson Pet Hospital.<br />

She is a member of the American<br />

<strong>Veterinary</strong> Medical Society, the<br />

Southwestern <strong>Veterinary</strong> Medical<br />

Association, and a founding member<br />

of the Emergency Clinics of<br />

Southwest Missouri. Dr. Carlson is<br />

also the co-author of Cat Owner’s<br />

<strong>Home</strong> <strong>Veterinary</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong>.<br />

In 1994, Dr. Carlson was honored as Humanitarian of the Year by the<br />

Southwest Humane Society of Springfield.
