4. Materials and Methods 4.1 Type of study This study is a blinded clinical trail. There are two types of trails performed in this clinical trail. A screening trail to determine the prevalence. A diagnose trail to show the importance of supplementary tests (in this work termed: ‘other tests’) diagnose pelvic instability. 4.2 Study procedure This research was started with an interest in pelvic instability. Concurrently the idea came to examine also the prevalence. This ended up in compiling the research methods. The choice was made on: The Dallas Pain Questionnaire The ASLR test with and without compression Other stability tests with and without compression The Pubis test, which were also performed with and without compression. After compiling the research and the literature, the question arise whether the current test battery for pelvic instability meets there expectations. The author concluded that this is not the case. The interest did arise if perhaps there may be still a pelvic instability when a subject does not score positive on the ASLR test (with and without compression). While aligning with my supervisor during a meeting in January 2012, he also recognized this which did lead to this part of the hypothesis and the outlined approach of the study. In the period from january 2012 to April 2012 the recruitment for this study started. The region for the recruitment have been limited to a radius of 20 km around the practice in Heerlen. The author also chose to recruit only in the Netherlands due to a possible language barrier. To recruite participants, pregnant women were approached via midwives, yoga and gymnastic (Lamaze) classes for pregnant women and young mother care groups. At i.e. midwive practises, The author explained the midwives the ins and outs of my study and left a registration form. On this form there was information about the study and at the bottom there was a section where the women could fill in their name, phone number and calculated time of birth below.
