CONTINENTAL L-HEAD ENGINE MANUAL<br />
FORWARD<br />
Good operation and a planned maintenance program as outlined in this<br />
manual are of vital importance in obtaining maximum engine performance, and long<br />
engine life. The instructions on the following pages have been written with this<br />
in mind, to give the operator a better understanding of the various problems which<br />
may arise, and the manner in which these problems can best be solved or avoided.<br />
Procedure in the Preventive Maintenance Section must be set up and<br />
followed by the owner and operator to obtain dependable service and long life from<br />
the engine. Owners and operators are expected to perform these maintenance<br />
procedures as outlined under the daily schedule as well as 50-hr., 250-hr.,<br />
and 5OO-hr. periods WHILE IN THE WARRANTY PERIOD AS WELL AS<br />
DURING THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE.<br />
Warranty service does not include tune-up of the engine such as replacing<br />
spark plugs, distributor points, tappet settings, ignition timing, ignition wiring,<br />
air cleaner service and lubrication and filter maintenance.<br />
The operator is cautioned against the use of any parts, other than Genuine<br />
Wisconsin Motors, LLC <strong>Continental</strong> Parts for replacement or repair. These<br />
parts have been engineered and tested for their particular job, and the use of any<br />
other parts may result in unsatisfactory performance and short engine life.<br />
Likewise, Wisconsin Motors, LLC <strong>Continental</strong> distributors and dealers, because<br />
of their close factory relations, can render the best and most efficient service.<br />
