Taxonomic notes. Niwaella laterimaculata, N. longibarba<br />
and N. xinjiangensis have a colour pattern somewhat similar<br />
to that <strong>of</strong> Iksookimia but do not have sexually dimorphic<br />
pectoral fins. They were placed in Niwaella by Chen & Chen<br />
(2005), which, besides being geographically distant, has a<br />
different appearance and colour pattern. They are tentatively<br />
retained in Niwaella but may represent an unnamed lineage.<br />
