43°18'N 116°40'E]; holotype: ZISP 2475, Prok<strong>of</strong>iev,<br />

2004a: 203; noun in apposition, indeclinable)<br />

Taxonomic notes. Known only from holotype, which may<br />

belong to Labiatophysa or Barbatula (Prok<strong>of</strong>iev, 2004a:<br />

204). The type locality is 'Lake Dalai-Nor'. There are several<br />

lakes by this name in China and Mongolia [alternative<br />

spellings: Dalaï-Nur, Dalai-Nuur, etc.]. The holotype was<br />

collected by Przewal'skii in 1874 and his travel map<br />

(Przewal'skii, 1876) shows only one Dalai-nor, at 43°18'N<br />

116°40'E (not Hu-Lun Lake, which is another Dalai Nur;<br />

contra Eschmeyer & Fricke, 2010).<br />

Nomenclatural notes. The type species <strong>of</strong> Octonema is listed<br />

as O. pleskei by monotypy by Eschmeyer & Fricke (2010).<br />

Warpachowski & Herzenstein (1887: 47) listed two included<br />

species, O. pleskei and O. costatum; Berg (1907a: 437)<br />

designated O. pleskei as type species.<br />
