Lepidoglanis Vaillant, 1890: 82 (type species: Lepidoglanis

masculine.
Nomenclatural notes. Vaillant (1890) did not indicate the
gender of Lepidoglanis. He also did not explain the etymology
and it is not known if he used the Greek glanis (feminine)
or the Latin glanis (masculine). Because lepis is a Greek
word, I consider Lepidoglanis as formed on the Greek glanis
and feminine. The stem for a family group named formed
on Lepidoglanis therefore is Lepidoglanid- (e.g. Lepidoglanididae
Jordan, 1923: 149).
