DiARMiDS in <strong>the</strong> latter glen are considered one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> most <strong>an</strong>ci ^nt names<br />

district <strong>of</strong> Gr<strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong>tully, in Perthshire, two miles below Tay-bridge. The<br />

Lamonts, MACLAt iii.<strong>an</strong>s, Macn'abs, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rs, are occasionally inter-<br />

mixed, but <strong>the</strong>ir l<strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong>s bear a small proportion to <strong>the</strong> great tract <strong>of</strong><br />

country possessed or occupied by <strong>the</strong> cl<strong>an</strong> Ca.mpbell. The extent <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Marquis <strong>of</strong> Breadaib<strong>an</strong>e's property will be seen by gl<strong>an</strong>cing over <strong>the</strong><br />

Map, from <strong>the</strong> Isl<strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> <strong>of</strong> Eisdale, in Argyleshire, to Gr<strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong>tully castle.<br />

36. Macdoloalls. The l<strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong>s occupied by this cl<strong>an</strong> are so scattered, that, ex-<br />

cept <strong>the</strong> estate <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> chief, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> two o<strong>the</strong>rs in his immediate neighbour-<br />

hood, <strong>the</strong>y c<strong>an</strong>not be distinguished. The Macuolgalls once possessed<br />

<strong>the</strong> whole <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> district <strong>of</strong> Lorn. These countries were afterwards<br />

tr<strong>an</strong>sferred to <strong>the</strong> Stewart family, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> from thciii bv marrio.t^e, to <strong>the</strong><br />

Ca.iipbells.<br />
