A Blueprint <strong>for</strong> <strong>Success</strong><br />

We would advocate <strong>for</strong> the definition <strong>of</strong> “middle school success,” and metrics creation. Doing<br />

so would allow us to enhance our middle school program to be more comprehensive as<br />

preparation <strong>for</strong> high school and college, to include academic enrichment, <strong>for</strong>mal mentoring,<br />

and college immersion, and to secure funding <strong>for</strong> the same.<br />

We would also like to be able to ensure that EIF students are financially, emotionally and<br />

socially supported throughout their college experience and to guarantee employment <strong>for</strong><br />

EIF graduates upon graduating from college. Working with corporations, including those<br />

who sponsor the Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program, would allow us to help ensure we have<br />

a dedicated work<strong>for</strong>ce ready to accept the emerging jobs that are in<strong>for</strong>mation and technology-based.<br />

This helps students and business/industry as businesses could essentially prepare<br />

their work<strong>for</strong>ce beginning in high school; it also underscores our message <strong>of</strong> equity and<br />

economics.<br />
