The Lafayette Experience
Lafayette College is dedicated to helping

The Lafayette Experience consists

An exceptionally qualified faculty
committed to each student's success.
Teaching and student mentoring are the
top priorities of the faculty at Lafayette.
All faculty members hold the Ph.D. or
the highest equivalent degree in their
field. Undergraduate research, directed
by fully involved and supportive faculty,
is a priority and a key component in the
primary teaching mission of the College.
Lafayette's faculty take a deep profes
sional and personal interest in the suc
cess of their students in relationships
that can last a lifetime.
FACT: With an 11 to 1 student/faculty
ratio, students have ample opportunity to
forge personal relationships with faculty
both inside and outside the classroom.
A challenging, broad-based academic cur-
riculum that offers strong programs in the
liberal arts, sciences, and engineering.
Lafayette's approach to teaching and learning
goes well beyond traditional classroom meth
ods. Through active-learning experiences in
small-group seminars, student-centered team
projects, independent study, and student/
faculty research, students have the unique
opportunity to cross often restrictive academ
ic boundaries in the liberal arts, sciences, and
engineering. To expand their horizons, stu
dents also study abroad, participate in work/
study experiential learning opportunities,
and serve externships with alumni and in
ternships in government and industry.
FACT: By the time they graduate, all
students are exposed to Lafayette's intimate
and individualized approach to teaching
and active learning.

Lafayette's residential, 110-acre campus is

FACT: With 2,000 students, Lafayette's
financial endowment per student is ranked
among the top 2 percent of all U.S. Colleges
and universities.

than 200 student groups and special ac
tivities on campus. Students can explore
new areas of interest, providing numer
ous opportunities for leadership and per
sonal growth that include participation
in 23 Division I intercollegiate sports, a
variety of on-campus cultural enrichment
programs, and a wide range of living
groups such as fraternities, sororities,
academic, cultural, and other special-
interest types of residential housing.
FACT: More than 95 percent of Lafay
ette's students live in residential housing
on campus, and most students remain at the
College on weekends to enjoy the wealth of
diverse social and cultural activities.
