After graduation from law school in 1979, he emigrated to the US for political reasons. Studied film-making and then taught editing at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. After having made several long and short features, documentaries and television programs for CBS he moved back to his native Hungary in 1994. He has won many awards both in the US and in Hungary as well as at different international festivals. The film Tableau received Best Screenplay Award and Jury Special Mention for Ensemble Acting at the Syracuse International Film Festival (2009).

A hard, but tolerable, existence; until they were told that they were to be sent to the Western Front to fight in the German army. “We decided it would be better to fight to the death there,” is how one of the Georgians, who survived the imprisonment and uprising, sums up the general feeling at the time. The life-or-death struggle - which initially went well - had far-reaching consequences, also for the population of Texel. Born in 1979 on Texel island, Netherlands. Dutch writer and filmmaker. With his journalistic production agency Prospektor he has written and filmed numerous stories. In 2004, his first film ‘Amsterdam-Kosovo’, about the dilemmas of humanitarian aid was selected for the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Over the last few years Arnold has travelled to many corners of the earth, particularly Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. 25
