His power lies in his clear thinking and philosophic outlook, in the idea to be freed from complexities and formalities. The film is about modern Armenia seen through Jivany’s eyes and shot under a critical glance. It documents the creation and transportation of Jivany’s monument from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, to Javakhk, Jivany’s birthplace. Thus, the main hero of the film is not a human being but a monument.

This story takes place in the post-soviet period, after the Armenian-Azeri conflict. The film tells about a village situated near the conflict zone, where the benefactor of Armenian descent from America opened a charitable canteen and refugees from different places work in a farm. The story begins when the villagers find a buffalo lost in the swamp, untamed and barely alive. They bring the buffalo to the farm, where it is treated as an enemy by the dogs guarding the farm and farmers and refugees exhausted from the war. We see the village life during the whole year through the eyes of the buffalo. Summer, autumn, and winter pass. The seasons change, but the monotonous life in the village goes on slowly. 59
