TSO Function<br />

Description<br />

The SYSTEM and TSO functions are identical, with one exception: under an operating<br />

environment other than z/<strong>OS</strong>, the TSO function has no effect, whereas the SYSTEM<br />

function is always processed. See “SYSTEM Function” on page 274 <strong>for</strong> more<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation. Note that the TSO function is ignored in a batch environment, unless <strong>SAS</strong><br />

is running in the TSO/E background.<br />

Sends a message to the system console<br />

z/<strong>OS</strong> specifics all<br />

Syntax<br />

WTO(“text-string”)<br />

text-string<br />

is the message that you want to send. It should be no longer than 125 characters.<br />

Description<br />

WTO is a DATA step function that takes a character-string argument and sends it to a<br />

system console. The destination is controlled by the WTOUSERROUT=,<br />

WTOUSERDESC=, and WTOUSERMCSF= <strong>SAS</strong> system options. If WTOUSERROUT=0<br />

(the default), no message is sent.<br />
