DDname<br />

can be any valid DDname or a null string. The DDname is dynamically allocated to<br />

either a SYSOUT data set (with class *) under batch or a terminal under TSO, and<br />

the DDname is passed to the host sort utility.<br />

Syntax<br />

SORTNAME=host-sort-utility-name<br />

host-sort-utility-name<br />

is any valid operating environment name. A valid operating environment name can<br />

be up to eight characters, the first of which must be a letter or special character ($, #,<br />

or @). The remaining characters, following the first, can be any of the above, or digits.<br />

Details<br />

The SORTNAME= option specifies the name of the host sort utility to be invoked if<br />

SORTPGM=H<strong>OS</strong>T or if SORTPGM=BEST and the host sort utility is chosen instead of<br />

the <strong>SAS</strong> sort utility. See “SORTPGM= System Option” on page 507 <strong>for</strong> in<strong>for</strong>mation on<br />

sort utility selection.<br />

Specifies whether the host sort utility supports the OPTIONS statement<br />
