Syntax<br />

SORTWKNO=n<br />

n<br />

can be 0 through 6. If SORTWKNO=0 is specified, any existing sort work files are<br />

freed and none are allocated.<br />

Details<br />

The SORTWKNO= option specifies how many sort work files are to be allocated<br />

dynamically by either <strong>SAS</strong> or the SORT utility. (See “DYNALLOC System Option” on<br />

page 425.)<br />

SORT31PL System Option<br />

Controls what type of parameter list is used to invoke the host sort utility<br />

Default: SORT31PL<br />

Valid in: configuration file, <strong>SAS</strong> invocation, OPTIONS statement, OPTIONS window<br />

Details<br />

If SORT31PL is in effect, a 31-bit extended parameter list is used to invoke the host<br />

sort utility. If N<strong>OS</strong>ORT31PL is in effect, a 24-bit parameter list is used.<br />

If SORT31PL is specified, then the SORTOPTS system option should also be<br />

specified. Also, because sorts that currently support a 31-bit parameter list also support
